Harvesting Safety

Harvest season calls for advanced planning. Even farmers and contractors with years of experience need to be aware of the dangers associated with this activity and take the necessary precautions. Farmers and contractors should avoid rushing the job as not taking enough time and care can result in disastrous consequences.

All machines must be properly maintained and be appropriate to the task and all individuals involved with tractor and machinery operation must be trained and competent to do the work. Ensure all silage pits are filled safely and always stack bales in a safe manner. Remember the farm should be a no-go area for children during harvest time.
