Making a home insurance claim
If you have been involved in an accident it is important that you contact us on 1890 953 953 or submit your claim online.
In the event of damage to your property:
- You should take any reasonable steps to prevent further loss. Check your policy for details of your cover and if relevant contact Home Assist (1890 583 583) or Find a Tradesperson services (1890 478 478).
- Notify FBD immediately. Contact at 1890 953 953.
- It is important to note that you should not go ahead with repairs (other than emergency repairs to limit damage) prior to our approval.
- Please do not dispose of any damaged articles before we have had an opportunity of examining them ourselves, or without our approval as your loss will need to be evidenced.
- Depending on the type of claim and value involved we may;
a) contact you by telephone to progress your claim.
b) arrange for one of our In-House Claims Appraisers to personally call on you.
c) appoint an independent Loss Adjuster to deal with your claim on our behalf.
In the event of an accident:
- Do not admit liability for the accident. Notify FBD immediately. Contact at 1890 953 953.
- Ascertain if anyone has been injured and call emergency services if necessary.
- Obtain names and addresses of all relevant persons, including witnesses.
- Keep a record of all injuries and damage sustained and draw a sketch map of the scene. Take photos of the incident scene if you can. Retain any items or material relevant to the alleged accident.
- All correspondence regarding the accident should be sent, unanswered, to FBD INSURANCE plc.
- Notice of any prosecutions should also be sent to FBD INSURANCE plc.
